Planted 35 Lakh Trees on Guruji’s Holy Birthday 15th August

Dera Sacha Sauda devotees celebrated the Birth Anniversary of Revered Guruji Saint Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh ji Insan with gusto on Friday, August 15th. The occasion saw Dera devotees come out in huge numbers and conduct tree plantation drive in India and abroad. As many as 30 lakh trees were planted on the day that saw the Revered Guruji initiate the campaign by planting a mango tree near the Sach Petrol Pump.

The day witnessed members of the royal family, monks of the Dera’s monastic order and sister, nuns, children from the Shah Satnam Ji Asra Ashram and Shahi Betiyan Basera converge for the mammoth drive. Addressing media persons on the occasion, His Holiness Saint Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh ji Insan, spoke about the importance of the campaign, saying that it is because of deforestation and reduction in the number of forests that issues like pollution, drought, floods and global warming have reached alarming proportions

Spelling out the details of the drive, Revered Guruji said that every year in the month of August Dera devotees carry out tree plantation campaigns in India and abroard. “Till now 2 crore 18 lakh 31,075 plants and trees have been planted on the face of this earth and a good 77.6 per cent of them are still growing,” he said.

Wishing fellow countrymen on the occasion of India’s 68th Independence Day, Revered Guruji, said that it’s been rather long that India has achieved its independence and yet it continues to suffocate under the impact of social ills. On a question about his political inclination, His Holiness said that the country’s political leaders should rule according to the principles of Dharma and should not fall prey to deceit, fraud and corruption. On the personal front he said that, he has always been promoted patriotism and social welfare, but politics has never appealed to him.

On another pointed question about people keeping away from awaling the electoral option, Guru ji responded by encouraging everyone to exercise his/her franchise, Revered Guruji, said that the Election Commission should carry offer special schemes for individuals, who regularly vote, so as to make the practice more appealing by way of some benefits or subsidies. He asked his countrymen to exercise judiciousness while casting their vote, rather than being lured by bribes.

Revered Guruji stated that the best way to celebrate one’s birthday is by doing good for the society. “You can get the poor treated, pay for the expenses incurred by a poor man on his daughter’s wedding or get a needy child admitted to school. Welfare of others is the best way to celebrate your birthday,” He added.

Speaking about the additional welfare activity that will be incorporated as the 104th welfare project by Dera Sacha Sauda, Revered Guruji, said that from this month onwards the Dera devotees will ensure easy and safe passage for commuters by removing hindrances on the roads like picking up a tree that has been felled on road or animals that have perished/wounded and keeping them at a safe distance from the road.

His Holiness also stressed the need for water conservation. He asserted that the farming community should devise and implement ways of recycling water during irrigation. He urged the farmers to give priority to medicinal plants over the paddy crop and emphasised on the need to conserving water in our day-to-day activities. “Filtration techniques should be effectively utilised as they can help in recycling the water, which can be used for vegetable farming.”

Moving on to the world of sports, Revered Guruji said that he hopes that India continues to do well in not just the Commonwealth Games, but also at the Olympics. About Dera Sacha Sauda’s accomplishments in sports, he said that sportspersons associated with Dera’s institutes have established their name not just in India, but also on the international stage. “Often the tips have helped our sportspersons excel, helping them claim prestigious titles like the world cup,” he added.

Revered Guruji came down heavily on social evils like drinking and urged the government to implement a countrywide ban on the sale of liquor. Posing his question to the government, he said, “Do our religions prescribe drug, alcohol or abuse, if not then there ought to be a blanket ban on intoxicants.” Providing the figures, he said that every minute 3-4 people die because of drug abuse and the youth is the worst affected by it.

India apart, the tree plantation drive on the occasion of the Birth Anniversary celebrations of Revered Guruji Saint Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh ji Insan was carried out in Australia, Nepal, New Zealand, Kuwait, Canada and Qatar.

In India the maximum numbers of trees were planted in Punjab, followed by Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra. .
